At Hartalega, we are consider environmental conservation to be of paramount importance. Over the years, we have taken a comprehensive approach to environmental responsibility with dedicated initiatives that cover production, alternative energy and raw materials. These include:

  • Air Emissions
  • Water Discharge
  • Stack Flue Monitoring
  • Sewerage Servicing

We’ve consistently set aside an average of 4% from our annual profits, in order to make significant investments in equipment which uses local and foreign technology to help protect the environment. This has helped ensure our environmental efforts will continue to meet stringent internal targets, and exceed the regulatory standards of local authorities. For example:

  • Effluent water discharge from all our plants conform to Department of Environment’s (DOE) highest benchmark, Standard A, by choice; although the looser Standard B is still applicable by regulation
  • Our scrubber towers are designed reduce air emissions levels to up to 20 times lower than the regulatory limit

Hartalega is also currently in the process of applying for the ISO 14001 environmental management systems certification, further underlining our commitment towards care for the environment.

Safety

Employee well-being is a priority for the Hartelga leaders, and a safe work environment is monitored at all times. We also encourage care and consideration between everyone in the Hartalega family.

We’ve made substantial investments into safety, including having our own Emergency Response Team (ERT) who can respond effectively and efficiently during emergencies, as well as a dedicated, in-house ambulance with trained personnel for swift delivery of medical aid to our employees.
