Mr. Kuan Kam Hon

Executive Chairman

As the founder of the company, Mr. Kuan Kam Hon is currently the Executive Chairman who is primarily responsible for the overall business strategy, as well as product and manufacturing technology innovation initiatives. Previous to 2012, Mr. Kuan concurrently performed the role of Chairman and Managing Director of Hartalega, demonstrating his commitment and dedication towards the growth of the company.

Mr Kuan began his career within the building and construction sector in 1969 under Kuan Yuen & Sons Company, a reputed quality homebuilder in the 70s specialising in upper-class residential units in the Klang Valley. Moving forward, he started Timol Weaving Sdn Bhd in 1978, a pioneer in woven labels and badges.

In 1981, Mr. Kuan Kam Hon made his career-defining move by forming Hartalega Sdn Bhd. Under his leadership, Hartalega Sdn Bhd has since become a reputable manufacturer of Latex and Nitrile gloves and is now a public listed company on the Main Board of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad.

He has established a set of management values that is quality driven and encourages creativity and innovation to produce highly-skilled personnel. Now aged 66, he sits on the Board of several other private limited companies as well.

Mr. Kuan Kam Hon

Mr. Kuan Mun Leong
Managing Director

Mr. Kuan Mun Leong, aged 37, joined the company's Engineering Department in 2001 and swiftly moved up the ranks to be appointed as an Executive Director of the Group in 2007. He was also duly appointed as the Deputy Managing Director, and subsequently as the Managing Director in 2012.

He graduated from Monash University, Australia, with a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1999 and later obtained a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Strathclyde, Scotland in 2007.

He began his career in the industrial boiler sector, where his in-depth knowledge of green energy technology turned out to be an advantage for Hartalega. Mr. Kuan Mun Leong went on to spearhead the implementation of the sector's first empty oil palm fruit bunch biomass energy plant in 2004 and was instrumental in leading the plant to a successful registration with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (Kyoto Protocol) in 2007, which enabled Hartalega to sell emission reduction credits.

Throughout his career in Hartalega, he has led capacity expansion projects that have increased production capacity eleven-fold, and also accomplished several unprecedented engineering breakthroughs in production technology.

Hartalega is now acknowledged as as the sector's most efficient glove manufacturer.

Mr. Kuan Mun Keng
Non-Independent
Executive Director

Appointed as an Executive Director in the year 2008, Mr. Kuan Mun Keng is also the Business Development and Corporate Finance Director of Hartalega Sdn Bhd.

He graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Business (Accounting) and a Bachelor's Degree in Computing from Monash University, Australia, in 1997. He is also a Certified Practising Accountant with CPA Australia. Upon graduation he joined Kassim Chan Business Services as an Analyst in the Information Technology Consultation Division. His next move in 1998 was to join Hartalega as a Production Executive.

Working in the Accounts and Management Information Services Departments he implemented various beneficial changes before he was promoted to Deputy Operations Manager in 2003.

Now aged 38, Mr. Kuan Mun Keng’s long experience in operations serves to complement the Sales and Marketing team as he is able to align functions in the company, with the needs and wants of customers. This has resulted in a four-fold sales revenue increase within a 5-year period.

Mr. Kuan Mun Keng is presently committee member of the Malaysian Rubber Gloves Manufacturers Association (MARGMA), where he serves as a Secretary for the second term running.

Dr. Danaraj A/L Nadarajah
Non-Independent
Executive Director

Dr. Danaraj A/L Nadarajah (Dr. N. Danaraj), aged 59, was appointed as a Non-Independent Executive Director in year 2011. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy from Oxford University, a Masters in Public Administration from Harvard University, a Masters in Arts and a Bachelor of Arts with Honours from the University of Malaya.

Dr. N. Danaraj began an illustrious career in Government in the Malaysian Administrative and Diplomatic Service, which culminated with his posting in the Ministry of Finance. During his service, he consulted on a number of projects crucial to the development of the nation. Dr.N. Danaraj was also the Technical Advisor in the Special Innovation Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister and was involved in formulating the National Innovation Policy.

He is also a staunch academic and has collaborated with several prestigious educational institutions in various countries. Dr. N. Danaraj is currently responsible for the Hartalega Group's own brand markets in the US, China, India and other emerging markets.

Dato' Mohamed Zakri bin Abdul Rashid
Independent
Non-Executive Director

Dato' Mohamed Zakri bin Abdul Rashid, aged 70, was appointed as Independent Non-Executive Director in year 2007, and also sits on the Audit Committee. Previously, Dato' Mohamed Zakri was appointed to Hartalega Sdn Bhd’s Board in 1998, as a Non-Executive Director.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree with Honours and a Diploma in Public Administration from University Malaya, and a Masters Degree in Public Administration from the University of Southern California, USA. Dato' Mohamed Zakri bin Abdul Rashid retired from Government service in 1998 as Director General of the Department of Immigration of Malaysia after having served the department for more than four years. Previously, he served the Government in various capacities within the Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Finance and the Prime Minister's Department, for more than 30 years. He also serves as an Independent Non-Executive Director of Dialog Group, Berhad.

Dato' Tan Guan Cheong

Non-Executive Director

Dato' Tan Guan Cheong, aged 69, was appointed as an Independent Non-Executive Director in year 2011. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Otago University, New Zealand, majoring in Economics, Marketing Management and Accountancy. He is a Chartered Accountant and a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants since 1983. He has worked in international audit firm Coopers & Lybrand (now known as PricewaterhouseCoopers) in New Zealand and Malaysia.

Dato' Tan has wide working experience in the financial services industry and has served in various senior capacities. He joined Orix Leasing Malaysia Bhd, an international diversified financial services institution in 1976 as a financial and accounting controller. Dato' Tan rose to become the Managing Director in 1988 and held this position until his retirement. Dato' Tan is a member of the Audit Committee and the Remuneration Committee. He is also a Director of Box-Pak (Malaysia) Berhad and YTL Cement Berhad.

Ms. Chuah Phaik Sim
Independent
Non-Executive Director

Chuah Phaik Sim, aged 44, was appointed as Independent Non-Executive Director in year 2007. Ms. Chuah is a member of the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants and a Chartered Accountant with the Malaysian Institute of Accountants.

She started her career in January 1989 with KPMG Desa Megat & Co (now known as KPMG) as an articled student and rose through the ranks to become a qualified Audit Senior in 1993. Her experience in KPMG includes external audits, restructuring, as well as initial public offering and valuation exercises.

She left KPMG in 1994 to become the Finance Manager of a public listed company and was responsible for the overall financial and administrative management of the company and the consolidation of the group's accounts.

In 1995, she joined Kumpulan Jetson Berhad as the Internal Auditor, reporting functionally to the Audit Committee. She was responsible for the setting up and overall management of the Internal Audit Department.

In 2000, she left Kumpulan Jetson Berhad and was appointed Director of several private limited companies. She has since remained active in providing corporate advisory and consultancy services for restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, and valuation exercises.

Mr. Liew Ben Poh
Independent
Non-Executive Director

Liew Ben Poh, aged 66, was appointed as Executive Director in year 2007, and re-designated as a Non-Executive Director in year 2010, after he retired from the position of Sales and Marketing Director in Hartalega Sdn Bhd. In 2011 he was appointed as member of the Nomination and the Remuneration Committees.

During his 16 years of service, he has helped Hartalega establish a strong international client base. In addition, he was also one of the key personnel involved in the research and development of Hartalega.

He is very active in the latex glove industry and was President of the Malaysian Rubber Glove Manufacturers' Association (MARGMA) for two terms. He was the first Chairman of the ASEAN Rubber Gloves Manufacturers' Association and was re-elected to serve as Chairman from 2008 to 2009. He was also a Board Member of the Malaysian Rubber Export and Promotion Council (MREPC) under the Ministry of Primary Products and Commodities. Owing to his vast knowledge of the latex glove industry, he is regularly invited to speak at international conferences in Malaysia as well as overseas.

Mr. Kuan Mun Keng

Appointed as an Executive Director in the year 2008, Mr. Kuan Mun Keng is also the Business Development and Corporate Finance Director of Hartalega Sdn Bhd.

He graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Business (Accounting) and a Bachelor's Degree in Computing from Monash University, Australia, in 1997. Mr. Kuan Eu Jin
Director - R&D and Technical

Mr. Kuan Eu Jin, aged 42, assumed the position of Director at R&D and Technical in 2008.

He is primarily responsible for Hartalega’s product research and development, where he oversees the quality assurance department and manages technical support to production. He is also the Quality Management Representative of Hartalega, responsible for all matters relating to the Company’s Quality System, and is the Chairman of the Health and Safety Committee.

He possesses a Bachelor’s Degree in Business (Manufacturing Management) from Monash University and an MBA qualification from the University of Strathclyde Business School, Scotland. Upon graduating in 1993, he joined Hartalega as a Management Trainee and was transferred to the QA Department and promoted to the position of QA Manager in the same year.

In 1996, he was promoted to Deputy Operations Manager and assisted the Operations Manager to oversee Hartalega’s manufacturing operations, as well as managing the R&D Department.

During his long service with Hartalega, he played a key role in the research and development of a range of innovative glove products together with Mr Kuan Kam Hon, including the world’s first polymer coated powder-free examination glove and high-stress relaxation Nitrile examination glove.

Mr. Kuan Vin Seung
Director – Human Resources

Mr. Kuan Vin Seung, aged 39, has been Hartalega’s Director of Human Resources since 2009. He is responsible for Hartalega’s entire spectrum of human capital management, including recruitment and selection, performance management, rewards and recognition, learning and development, as well as industrial and employee relations.

He also oversees Hartalega’s Corporate Responsibility (CR) initiatives and is the Chairman of ESOS Committee. He possesses a Bachelor's Degree in Commerce (Accounting & Finance) from Monash University, a CPA certification from CPA Australia and a MBA (Merit) from the Manchester Business School, UK.

Having joined Hartalega in 2001, after working for 3 years in the Assurance and Advisory Business Services (AABS) Department of Ernst & Young, KL, he was exposed to operations and HR. He subsequently headed the HR department from 2004 where he initiated a HR Transformation program in 2010. The program resulted in the implementation of a Balanced Scorecard-based performance management system, competency profiling, job grading structure, and a formalised learning and development framework.

He is also currently a member of the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) Selangor Branch Committee, by virtue of being the Chairman of the FMM Kuala Selangor Regional Committee since 2011.

Mr. Muhammad Hakimi Tan bin Abdullah
Director – Manufacturing

In 2012 Mr. Hakimi was appointed as Hartalega’s Director of Manufacturing, aged 49. He is responsible for overseeing the company’s manufacturing operations, which includes production, quality control, maintenance, purchasing, shipping, warehousing, MIS and safety & health.

He possesses a Bachelor Degree in Science majoring in Biology and Chemistry from Campbell University, USA and Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) certification from the APICS Association for Operations Management, USA.

Mr. Hakimi began his career with Hartalega after graduating in 1988 as one of the pioneer production staff and worked his way up the ranks over the years due to his dedicated service and stellar contributions.

The last position he held before his current post was in 1996, as Operations Manager. Mr Hakimi has played a key role in ensuring the growth and success of manufacturing operations, throughout Hartalega’s development.
