History

At Hartalega, we’ve been making history since the day we started. From our humble beginning in 1988 to becoming the world’s largest Nitrile glove manufacturer, Hartalega has always been in the forefront of the glove-making industry. Here are some of our highlight achievements and successes over the years:

1988-2000

2011 Completed our 5^th plant with additional 10 high capacity production lines with an installed capacity of 10 billion gloves a year running at 36,000 pieces per hour. Received 200 Best Under A Billion Award by Forbes Asia for the 2^nd year in a row.

2012 Started constructing our 6^th plant with an annual installed capacity of 4 billion gloves a year. Received 200 Best Under A Billion Award by Forbes Asia for the 3^rd year in a row. Received Overall Best Managed Company (Medium Cap) in Malaysia Award by Asiamoney for the 2^nd year.

2013 Completed our 6^th plant with 10 additional high capacity production lines operating at a world record of 45,000 pieces per hour. Became Malaysia’s most valuable glove company with a market capitalisation in excess of RM4.5 billion as of June 2013. Received 200 Best Under A Billion Award by Forbes Asia for the 4^th year in a row.

2002 First in the world to produce high stress retention nitrile gloves which were soft, stretchy and comfortable to wear, just like natural rubber gloves.

2003 Industry’s first renewable energy plant that uses oil palm empty fruit bunch fibers and kernel shells as fuel.

2004 Operation of the world’s first double former production line that improved production capacity to 28,000 pieces per hour of nitrile gloves.

2007 Launched the world’s thinnest 3.7g nitrile glove, another world’s first. First Biomass Energy Plant in the industry to be registered to the United Nations Framework on Climate Change (UNFCC) Kyoto Protocol. Received Innovative Excellence Award by Selangor State Investment Centre.

2005 Launched the world’s thinnest 4.7g nitrile glove. Constructed our 3^rd Plant with an addition of 8 high capacity glove production lines (able to produce 30,000 pieces per hour, highest capacity in the industry). Industry’s first robotic lab simulator. Received Best Factory Award by Malaysian Rubber Board.

2008 Listed on Main Board in Bursa Malaysia.

2010 Became the largest nitrile glove producer in the word with an annual installed capacity of 9 billion gloves a year. Received 200 Best Under A Billion Award by Forbes Asia. Received Shareholder Value Award by KPMG. Received Overall Best Managed Company (Small Cap) in Malaysia Award by Asiamoney.

2009 Constructed our 4^th plant with an addition of 10 high capacity production lines running at 33,000 pieces per hour.

1988 Established in Kepong,
Kuala Lumpur with 4 production
lines.

1992 Operations moved to Batang Berjuntai, Selangor with 10 production lines.

1995 First in the world to produce Polymer Coated power-free natural rubber gloves. Industry’s first automated glove stripping system for natural rubber and nitrile gloves, a breakthrough innovation in speed and efficiency that remains unrivalled to this very day.

1997 Addition of 5 online chlorination production lines.

1998 Received the coveted Enterprise 50 Award.
